A quick hello!

Hello, and welcome to my blog! I am an Australian Rotary Exchange Student who will be travelling over to Sweden for a full twelve months in 2015. Exciting stuff, right!? I am so grateful for the opportunity to travel across the seas to experience a whole new world from what I have grown up in. From the boiling heat of good old 'straya to the frosty snow of the laplands; the bustling cities to the heart-warming small towns - I know I have a lot to experience, and I honestly can't wait to get started!

While I am yet to have hopped on a plane and reached my new home and host family, I feel as if the greatest adventure of my life has already started. I heard of the program quite late in the year, so it was a big rush to get all the application forms organised - especially when there was about 15 pages worth of information needed to be filled out! Before I knew it, I was off to a selection camp along with numerous other applicants whom I now consider great friends! I remember the nerves creeping up on me throughout interview after interview as each of us were considered as potential exchange students. The suspense was crazy! However, we made it through and I was lucky enough to be told I will be heading off to Sweden!

Only recently I have discovered my exact town (Piteå!!) along with my host family, flight details and school. I'm so excited to find out more though! I have my final Rotary camp before I head off to Sweden coming up next week, where I hope to learn more. I'm also trying to pick up as many Swedish phrases as I can before I go, and catch up with my friends before it's finally time for the greatest adventure of my life! So, that is a brief introduction of the future ahead, and I hope to tell you more as soon as possible.

Lannie :)
